About ConnectEd Therapeutic Services
For over 25 years the Catholic Children’s Society (Westminster) (CCS) has delivered professional early intervention mental health services to support children and families of all faiths and none. These services are now branded as ‘ConnectEd’ and continue to provide vital support to families across the Diocese of Westminster. This includes the whole of Hertfordshire as well as the following London boroughs:
Barnet – Brent – Camden – City of Westminster – Ealing – Enfield – Hackney – Hammersmith & Fulham – Haringey – Harrow – Hatfield – Hillingdon – Hounslow – Islington – Kensington & Chelsea – Richmond – Tower Hamlets
Our therapeutic services support children and young people aged 4-18 (and their families) who are experiencing a range of issues such as:
- Bereavement and loss
- Divorce, separation and family breakdown
- Domestic violence
- Low self-esteem
ConnectEd Counselling and Therapy Services are delivered on-site in over 60 primary, secondary and special schools. We also support families on-site at ConnectEd North Family Service based in Haringey, North London.
Importantly, we never deal with a child’s problems in isolation:
- Parents/carers: We work with parents/carers and offer support and advice on how they can help their child at home
- School Staff: When working in schools we provide consultations for school staff to advise on the best ways to support children’s emotional wellbeing and explore how this can enhance their attainment and achievement
- Linking with other services: Where appropriate we work with agencies such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and social services, ensuring there is an effective ‘team around the child’ and each child’s specific needs are fully supported
Professional and experienced staff
All our staff are qualified and experienced mental health professionals and hold full membership of appropriate professional bodies e.g. British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) or British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). Where appropriate they are also state registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. They have advanced DBS checks, are trained in child protection and work within the ethical guidelines of their professional body. Our staff come from a broad range of backgrounds and are always experienced in working clinically with vulnerable children and young people.
Our ConnectEd services have an impressive track record and have been commissioned by several local authorities including Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Richmond upon Thames.
Each year over 1,500 people benefit from these services and over 90% of the children and young people we support show a marked improvement in their emotional wellbeing.
