Danielle’s story

”Danielle’s like a different girl. She now engages with her teachers in all her classes and importantly with her subjects.“

Danielle moved to England and experienced a significant family loss. She was self-harming and had experienced significant trauma in her young life. When Danielle joined secondary school, she was full of anger, and this impacted every aspect of her life.

At school she had very little social interactions. Danielle did not engage with teachers, and she struggled to maintain positive peer relationships. Her new school tried mentoring but unfortunately this had little impact.

Finally, she began to work with a Connect-Ed therapist and was able to work through her trauma. The result is that she is like a different girl.

Danielle began working with a Connect-Ed therapist and was able to process her trauma. As a result, she has experienced significant growth and positive change. Having a space to explore her anger and better understand her emotions, has allowed Danielle to feel much lighter and significantly improved her relationships with her family. Her Mum also commented on this to the school.

Overall, she’s much happier and has developed strong friendships. She engages with her teachers and most importantly with her subjects.

When her therapy came to an end, Danielle was sad and anxious, worried about how she would cope without her weekly session. However, the therapy built up her resilience and she’s now much more confident in dealing with challenging situations.

Danielle is now in Year 11 and is looking to do well in her GCSEs.
